How To Fix Page Permissions:

If you are having an issue with newly created pages where you are unable to view them while not logged in, here's how to fix it.

**Understand that all of your sites have a "Guest" account user that has only "Read" permission.  Never Change This!**

Here's an example of how you might create teacher pages at an elementary school:

1.  Under your "Academics" page, you might choose to create a Kindergarten subpage.  (refer to the SharpSchool site for how to set up sub pages if you are unsure)

2.  Look at the page permissions for the Kindergarten sub page

:

3.  In the window that appears, be sure that the box labeled, "Allow Inheritable Permissions From Parent to Propagate to This Object" is selected.

4.  This will then pull the permissions from the levels above (including the Guest account with its Read Only access).

5.  If you have already created teacher pages, be sure that this option is selected for each of their pages.

How I Solved Problem of Teachers Being Able to Edit Others' Pages

Harry Marriner--MCE

I had a problem where teachers signed in to their pages were able to edit other pages, like the Home page, About Us, etc., either some or all of them. If you have had this problem, this fix may work for you.

After much trial, I solved the problem by going to Administration>Site Administration>Security. Expanding the Malpass Corner Authors folder, I saw the Teachers group. I checked that group and removed it from the Authors and that solved my problem. Teachers can still edit their own pages, but not other pages.
